Sunlight hasn't shone into the old facility in many years. It's time for you to leave and plant new roots.

Vinekid is a momentum-based platformer inspired by the likes of Celeste and other challenging titles. Armed with nothing but a grappling-hook vine, you have to walk, jump, and swing your way to the end of over a dozen rooms.

The source code for the entire game is available on GitHub. Feel free to play with it however you see fit! Full game credits are included in the game and repository.

Some people have started speedrunning vinekid! To help with this, I've pushed a patch that adds some extra convenience features.

  • Press Shift+R to quick restart
  • Press F10 to toggle a speedometer
  • Press F1 while paused to enable cheats
    • Hold ctrl with cheats enabled to slow down time
    • Right click to teleport to the mouse pointer

Also fixed a couple bugs

  • If you beat the game with a flower collected, but haven't hit the ground yet, it should count it now
  • Made the petals from collecting a flower not spin everywhere
  • Tweaked some of the signs

A GREAT game with a COOL mechanic. I loved it, finished it in 40 minutes.

The only thing annoying (other than not being good enough to finish everything in one try), was that sometimes the flowers would respawn and when I picked them up, it only counted after I finished the level.

Thank you! Yeah, the way flowers work is they only stick if you touch the ground after picking them up, same as Celeste with it’s strawberries. Glad you enjoyed it, though!

Wow, this is really polished!  The swinging mechanics are great and the physics work how you'd expect.  Great secrets too.

Sometimes hard, sometimes easy, but it has great graphics and great sounds that really makes you feel the world! Well done!
